This truly enchanting 1940's cream crepe silk dress, embellished with a sequin and bead design of a bird of Paradise perched upon a branch surrounded by leaves and flowers, in sumptuous shades of gold, red, green and lilacs, is the perfect show stopper for your vintage collection.
The rounded neckline of the dress, is framed by a simple shoulder line, which is accented by gathered smocking stitches along the right hand side shoulder, which enables the crepe silk to drape in soft pleats along the yoke. The bodice is decorated with a sequin and bead pattern of a bird of Paradise, framed to either side by wide cut short length sleeves. The fitted cut of the bodice, draws the eye to the cinched in waistline. The elegant line of the skirt, is accented by a peplum design, which drapes from the left hand side of the waistline, accented by triple gathered pleats, and lengthens as is drapes toward to right hand side seam of the dress, where it joins in along the seam. The straight cut of the skirt, is finished with a central split, allowing for a gentle flare in the crepe silk along the hemline. Finished with a keyhole feature along the nape, this dress truly showcases the glamour of the era.

Condition: This dress is in good but not perfect vintage condition. A small pin sized age mark along the right hand side of the bust-line. Two light and small age marks along the front left hand side of the peplum just below the waist-band . A small age mark along the front right hand side of the peplum, 4.1 inches below the waistline. A larger age mark along the back centre part of the hemline . A water mark along the back right hand side of the hemline and along the right hand side seam, continuing to the front right hand side of the hemline. Colour variation to the crepe silk throughout, this appears lighter in cream colour in some areas and a darker shade of cream in others. This details are not overly apparent when the dress is being worn and only apparent upon inspection. The dress could be shortened to remove the water marks along the hemline should you desire to modify it. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report.
Fastenings: This dress fastens along the nape with a hook and eye and along the side seam with a 10.5 inch metal zip.
